This documentary was a great example of an argumentative essay. It was against Wal-Mart. Information and interviews were from all over the country and also outside the country. I have shopped at Wal-Mart many times, and I thought that it was a very successful franchise, but after watching the documentary, how I feel about Wal-Mart has changed a little bit. In the documentary, it opposed what Wal-Mart does showing many bad aspects of Wal-Mart.
In the documentary, many bad aspects of Wal-Mart were introduced. Wal-Mart provides cheap things in every state, and it becomes difficult for small privately owned shops to survive in this competitive business market. People who work at Wal-Mart are said to be poorly treated, paid low wages, and discriminated against because of races or gender. Wal-Mart is protected by the government so that they get a great amount of subsidy which could be used to build schools and educate many children. What Wal-Mart is keeping in their parking lots causes the environment to become polluted. The reason why things which are sold in Wal-Mart are so cheap is because those products are made in China. Chinese workers in the Wal-Mart factory do not live in good conditions; they work long hours, but they are paid little. Wal-Mart makes so much profit from that, and Lee Scott, the CEO of Wal-Mart and the other top leaders get all the money. He contributes only a little money for people who are having troubles living.
