Studying American History, I found the controversy about slavery arose at any occasions. Slavery brought great effects to American society in economy, ethnicity, and ideology. I thought the life of slaves was very tough; for example, they had to work from morning to night, and they were not given any opportunities for their leisure. Also, I imagined the slave owners treated them very poorly. Of course, I can not know how the slaves’ lives were exactly because I have never experienced being a slave. I was very concerned because some historians had some opinions that slavery was not always the cruel system.
